Xo-Cut carbide burrs for stainless steel & exotic metals

Standard double-cut burrs skate across stainless steel, overheat in seconds, and leave a work-hardened surface that's even harder to cut next pass. Xo-Cut solves this with an extra-coarse, asymmetric flute geometry that bites into stainless, titanium, and exotic alloys aggressively — shearing material cleanly before heat can build up.

Key features & benefits
Asymmetric extra-coarse flutes
Xo-Cut geometry bites into stainless and exotic alloys where standard double-cut simply skips and work-hardens the surface.
Heat-resistant cutting action
Shears material before heat accumulates — prevents work-hardening on stainless steel and nickel alloys.
Minimal vibration
Asymmetric flute spacing eliminates harmonic chatter — gives you control and a cleaner finish on hard metals.
Solid tungsten carbide
USA-manufactured from premium solid carbide — the hardness needed to maintain a cutting edge on exotic alloys.
Multiple shapes available
All major series available — cylindrical, ball, oval, tree, flame, and taper for every stainless application.
Wholesale direct pricing
Factory-direct from our USA facility — no distributor markup on specialty stainless burrs.

Safety guidelines
Work-hardening risk on stainless
Never dwell or slow the burr on stainless steel — pausing generates heat that instantly work-hardens the surface and destroys the cutting edge. Keep the burr moving at all times.
Reduce RPM on exotic alloys
Titanium and Inconel require 20–30% lower RPM than standard steel. Excessive speed on these materials generates dangerous levels of heat and increases fire risk from titanium swarf.
Full face shield required
Stainless and titanium chips are razor-sharp and eject at high velocity. Safety glasses alone are insufficient — always use a full face shield with die grinder work on hard metals.
Inspect for edge wear before use
A worn Xo-Cut on stainless will rub instead of cut — generating heat and work-hardening the workpiece. Discard any burr showing flat spots or glazed flute edges.
Secure workpiece firmly
Hard metals resist the burr and transfer more reaction force back to your hands. Clamp the workpiece — never hold stainless freehand during grinding operations.
Eye & hearing protection always
High-pitched chatter from hard metal grinding causes rapid hearing fatigue. Use earplugs or earmuffs alongside your face shield on all Xo-Cut applications.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my standard carbide burr not cut stainless steel properly?
Standard double-cut burrs rub on stainless rather than cutting cleanly because their fine flute geometry generates heat faster than it removes material. That heat immediately work-hardens the stainless surface, making the next pass even harder to cut. Xo-Cut's extra-coarse asymmetric flutes shear the material aggressively before heat can build — which is why it cuts where double-cut fails.
Can Xo-Cut burrs be used on titanium and Inconel?
Yes — Xo-Cut is specifically suited to titanium alloys and nickel-based superalloys like Inconel. For titanium, reduce RPM by 25–30% compared to stainless and keep the burr moving continuously to prevent heat buildup. For Inconel, use a firm, consistent cutting pressure — Inconel's extreme work-hardening means any hesitation or dwelling will cause the surface to harden ahead of the cutting edge.
Can I use Xo-Cut burrs on aluminum or soft metals?
Xo-Cut is designed for hard ferrous and exotic metals and is not recommended for aluminum, brass, copper, or plastics. The coarse flute geometry that makes it effective on stainless produces a rough, torn finish on soft metals. For aluminum and non-ferrous work, our Aluma-Cut burrs are the correct choice — their open single-cut flutes are engineered specifically to prevent chip packing on soft materials.
