Krazy Kut carbide burrs – heavy duty weld removal

Heavy weld beads on structural steel, shipbuilding plate, and pressure vessels demand more than a standard double-cut burr. Krazy Kut burrs feature a deep, aggressive double-cut geometry with wider flute spacing that tears through weld material at maximum speed while channeling chips away efficiently — fewer passes, fewer burrs, faster job completion.

Key features & benefits
Deep aggressive double-cut
Wider, deeper flute spacing removes weld material in fewer passes — significantly faster than standard double-cut on heavy welds.
Reduced vibration under heavy load
Deep flute geometry reduces harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts — less hand fatigue on long weld removal sessions.
Superior chip clearance
Wide chip channels prevent weld chip packing during heavy removal passes — consistent cut from start to finish.
Solid tungsten carbide
USA-manufactured solid carbide handles repeated impact loading of heavy weld removal without chipping or premature wear.
Works on all ferrous metals
Effective on mild steel, structural steel, stainless welds, hard-facing alloys, and chrome-moly fabrications.
Wholesale direct pricing
Factory-direct from our USA facility — buy in bulk and save on high-volume weld removal work.

Safety guidelines
Clear chips every 30–45 seconds on heavy passes
Deep flutes trap weld chips during sustained heavy removal. Stop and clear frequently — packed chips cause heat spikes that can crack the carbide head under continued load.
Do not use on aluminum or soft metals
Krazy Kut geometry is for ferrous weld material only. Soft metals load the deep flutes instantly and create a dangerous grabbing action. Use Aluma-Cut for non-ferrous work.
Full face shield mandatory
Heavy weld grinding ejects large, sharp chips at high velocity. A full face shield is required — safety glasses alone provide insufficient protection for Krazy Kut applications.
Clamp workpiece for heavy removal
The aggressive cutting action generates significant lateral forces. Always clamp or fixture the workpiece securely before starting heavy weld removal passes.
Eye & hearing protection always
Wear safety glasses and hearing protection on all grinding operations regardless of duration.
Inspect for cracks after heavy use
Heavy weld removal subjects the carbide head to repeated impact. Inspect the head after each major job — discard immediately if any cracks or chips are visible.

Frequently asked questions
How does Krazy Kut differ from a standard double-cut burr for weld removal?
Standard double-cut burrs have a moderate flute depth and spacing designed for general-purpose metalworking. Krazy Kut uses a deeper, more aggressive flute geometry with wider spacing specifically optimised for heavy weld removal — where the material is harder than the base metal, often irregular, and needs to be removed quickly. The result is more material removed per pass, better chip clearance on large weld deposits, and significantly less burr consumption per linear foot of weld.
Can Krazy Kut burrs be used on titanium welds?
Krazy Kut is not ideal for titanium weld removal. Titanium requires a cutting action that generates minimal heat — the aggressive geometry produces more heat than is safe for titanium, which has a low ignition threshold in fine chip form. For titanium weld cleanup, our Xo-Cut burrs with reduced RPM are the correct and safer choice.
Should I use Krazy Kut for finishing passes after weld removal?
No. Krazy Kut is a heavy removal tool — its deep flute geometry leaves a relatively rough surface. Once the bulk of the weld is removed, switch to a standard double-cut for intermediate work and finish with a Drag Cut hi-helix burr for the smoothest final surface. Using the right burr for each stage produces a better result than trying to do everything with one cut style.
